Introduction
Populations in crisis situations require quality services and appropriate health technologies to maintain their health. Technologies must be used correctly to have maximum benefit. PATH has collaborated closely with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on the development of new job aids to improve the correct use of reproductive health technologies in crisis settings. These job aids will be included in the Interagency Reproductive Health Kits for Emergency Situations by the end of 2010. Health workers who use these kits reported that certain technologies are underutilized because health workers do not know how to use them properly or community members are unaware of their importance. The job aids aim to provide clear and simple guidance on how to correctly perform vacuum extractions, sterilize equipment, and provide post-rape care for adults and children. UNFPA, UNHCR, International Rescue Committee, and others provided final technical review.
